Walker & Dunlop has arranged equity syndication for Verrbena, a new-construction, affordable multifamily community in Westminster, Colorado.
Walker & Dunlop Affordable Housing Equity arranged the transaction on behalf of Maiker Housing Partners. Aaron Krasnow led the 4% LIHTC new-construction execution.
The project will feature 70 affordable multifamily units, including 48 one-bedroom and 22 two-bedroom residences, with income restrictions ranging from 30% to 70% AMI and a neuro-inclusive housing component serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Additionally, the property will include approximately 11,000 sq ft of non-residential space, along with roughly 7,000 sq ft for a Headstart daycare and 4,000 sq ft of exterior community space.
Verrbena will be part of The Uplands, a large-scale master-planned redevelopment transforming approximately 234 acres of former farmland into a mixed-use residential community. Located at 2880 West 88th Avenue, Westminster, Adams County, CO.
The name pays tribute to Adams County Commissioner Eva Henry, whose unwavering leadership in housing, equity and community has shaped Maiker’s work. It also draws inspiration from the verbena flower, long associated with resilience, healing and transformation which are qualities reflected in the lives and stories of Maiker members. Verrbena is a community built for connection, dignity and the chance for every neighbor to thrive.
“Verrbena represents an important addition to the affordable housing pipeline in the Denver metro area, combining long-term affordability with neuro-inclusive housing and supportive services. We’re grateful to Maiker Housing Partners for their partnership in delivering a community designed to serve a broad range of residents and housing needs.”
