Maiker Housing Partners assessing federal funding impacts on housing following US Office of Management and Budget Memorandum: “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance”

Update as of 01.29.2025: OMB Memorandum M-25-13 is rescinded. Official memo linked here.

The recent directive from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), issued on January 27, initially paused the disbursement and obligation of federal financial assistance effective January 28, 2025, at 5 p.m. The implementation of the memo has been delayed by a Federal Court Order until February 3, 2025. While the delay provides additional time for clarification, concerns remain about its potential impact on housing programs and community support initiatives.

The most recent guidance suggests that programs providing direct benefits to Americans, including rental assistance, may not be affected by this pause. However, the full implications of this directive remain unclear. Maiker Housing Partners is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), peer housing agencies and national advocacy networks to understand the potential effects on Maiker’s programs and funding.

As we continue to gather information, we remain committed to ensuring stability and support for our members. We will provide updates as soon as more details become available.
