Maiker Housing Partners is pleased to announce that Jessica Sandgren has joined our Board of Commissioners. Jessica has served as a councilwoman for the City of Thornton since 2017 and is currently the Mayor Pro Tem.
Jessica has a passion for teaching and as a K-12 licensed educator, she taught science for more than a decade. She was awarded numerous Science and STEM related grants for her students, and was instrumental in developing curriculum to help guide students on their journey to finding a career path. She continues working in the classroom as a high school mentor and frequently volunteers in her local school districts for panel discussions and project-based learning activities to bring awareness to local government issues, civic engagement, and leadership training. She is currently pursuing a career in real estate where she will focus on senior housing as well as home buyer programs for teachers, fire fighters and police officers.
As a community advocate, Jessica has been working hard to help combat opioid addiction, supporting programs that retrain those coming out of jail, homelessness and drug addiction, as well as ensuring health care services are available to kids. She serves on the Board of Directors for Kids First Health Care, BUDS Warehouse, the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse, and is a certified first responder with Adult Mental Health First Aid.
We look forward to working with her and can’t wait to see what she brings to the board.
