WESTMINSTER, COLO. (June 3, 2019) – Unison Housing Partners has been awarded federal and state tax credits from the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority for the development of a new multifamily, mixed-income affordable housing project in unincorporated Adams County. Once completed, the project will provide 116 new apartment homes.
Located at 7401 Broadway, the 4.7 acre site was formerly home to the Adams County Child and Family Services Center. The project will convert the existing 46,000-square-foot office building into 44 apartment units as well as construct 72 new walk-up units behind it. The 116 households served will be between 30% and 70% Area Median Income (AMI), out of which up to 12 apartments will be reserved for youth transitioning out of the foster care system.
“Our foster youth population is at a greater risk of being homeless within two years after aging out of foster care due to the lack of affordable housing and a reliable family support network to engage when times get tough,” said Peter LiFari, Executive Director of Unison. “This project will not only provide safe and quality affordable housing to these young adults, but also create housing solutions for other Adams County residents who are facing a limited set of options.”
Unison will work in partnership with Adams County’s Children and Family Services (CFS) to provide case management and support services for residents ages 18-25 who are aging out of foster care. These foster youth will have access to specific services from CFS while the entire project will have access to general services provided by Unison’s Family & Community Vitality department.

7401 Broadway is a first-of-its-kind project in Adams County and Unison’s first opportunity to adaptively reuse an existing office building. The project will feature ample parking spaces, fitness center, computer station, conference room, lounge room, playground, dog run and greenspace among other modern amenities. It is also located near bus service, the Mapleton School District’s newly renovated Global Campus, a park, library, recreation center and medical clinic.
